Sheldon et les docteurs Sturgis et Linkletter partent pour un voyage de trois jours vers un télescope près de Fort Davis. En chemin, le docteur Sturgis essaie de conduire et écrase un tatou. Se retrouvant dans un bar de motards, Sheldon parvient à aider ses collègues, mais le tatou meurt. Après l'avoir enterré, ils reprennent la route au son de la musique mariachi en hommage à l'animal.
